Benefits of Spaying & Neutering

Benefits of Spaying Your Female Pet

Spaying provides crucial preventative health benefits, including:

> Preventing serious uterine infections.
> Reduce the risk of breast cancer, especially if done before their first heat.
> Eliminating the stress and anxiety of heat cycles.

Benefits of Neutering Your Male Pet

Neutering is just as important for your male pet’s well-being. The benefits include:

> Preventing testicular cancer and reducing
the risk of prostate issues.
> Reducing hormone-driven behaviours like “territory marking” and the urge to mount or roam
away from home.
> Contributing to a calmer, more docile temperament.

Benefits for Our Edmonton Community

By choosing to spay or neuter, you’re also helping to control the issue of pet overpopulation in our community. Ultimately, it’s a loving act that reduces the number of homeless animals in local shelters.

The Surgical Procedure

While this is a common procedure, we treat it with the same high standard of care as any other surgery. Spaying and neutering are performed under general anesthesia with continuous monitoring by our team.

A Smooth At-Home Recovery

This is an outpatient procedure, so your pet will be home with you the same day. We’ll send you home with clear instructions for aftercare. Your main job is to keep your pet calm and relaxed for about 10 days while their incision heals and to check the site daily.

Give Your Pet Lifelong Benefits

We’re ready to answer your questions and discuss the best time to spay or neuter your pet.
